We ask God to display His glory in our lives. We come with expectance that He will move; that He will show up. We expect Him to come inhabit our space and our hearts because that’s just “what He does" as our God. We ask Him all these things and what does He do? He delivers, but yet do we actually desire these things or just expect them of Him? What does he expect from us? He really expects nothing, and yet only desires one thing; that we love Him.
We expect. He desires.
What would happen if we equalized this concept of the mind and heart?
We desire. He desires.
What would that look like in ours lives? How would that play out in our hearts? How would that affect our ability to trust in His abilities rather than our own?
Do we expect all of these things from God because that’s just what He does, or do we desire these things from God because our love for Him burst forth confidence in our hearts that we are adored and cared for by Him? Do we desire His ability as God who spoke the universe into existence or our own? (Obviously we don’t hold that power. We can’t say “let there be light” and boom, there’s light. We have no ability to speak things into existence, but yet we tend to rely more on our abilities than on His?
How would this shape my response towards Him if I began desiring God; if I desired His abilities and glory rather than expecting them and often relying on my own?
Expecting in mind-moving. Desiring is heart-penetrating.
Don't let an expectant mind keep you from your desiring heart.
May our hearts desire God in all His glory today, as He so graciously displays through the image above. He opens up the Heavens from time to time to display His Glory. <3
